Abstract
|

|
Based on the contemporary knowledge gained about pathophysiology and epidemiology, newer classification and diagnostic criteria were developed.
For the better treatment of diabetes mellitus, new modalities have been developed to deliver insulin physiologically similar to non-diabetic person because numerous studies have shown a clear relation between hyperglycemia and microvascular complications.
There also have been much progress in the purification of insulin and biosynthesis of human insulin.
